During the Penn football team’s home and season opener against Lafayette, senior defensive back Jonathan Saelinger picked off three passes –- one shy of the 70-year-old school record for a game –- the third of which set up the game-winning drive.

The Quaker defense, ranked No. 1 in the nation last season, continued to stifle opposing offenses, extending their streak to nine consecutive quarters without giving up a touchdown. (Lafayette’s points came off a blocked punt and pick-six).

Penn faculty and staff could have listened to the defending Ivy League champions on the radio at NewsTalk 990 WNTP AM or 560 WFIL AM. They could have watched the game online at the Penn Sports Network on PennAthletics.com or ESPN3.com. Or they could have experienced the excitement first-hand at historic Franklin Field, for free.
