A planned Center for Precision Engineering for Health, housed in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, will focus on developing biomaterials for personalized medical treatments. “Engineering solutions to problems within human health is one of the grand challenges of the discipline,” Dean Vijay Kumar said. “Our faculty are already leading the charge against these challenges, and the Center will take them to new heights.”

The Wharton School is establishing “AI for Business,” a new organization made possible by funding from alumni Tao Zhang and Selina Chin. The organization will be led by Kartik Hosanagar. “The advances made possible by artificial intelligence hold the potential to vastly improve lives and business processes,” said Dean Geoff Garrett.

Renderings of the new Tangen Hall building have been released. President Amy Gutmann said “the real motivator for this is the amazing entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of our undergraduate and graduate students who are working to do great things in the world.” The hall is named after Wharton alumnus Nicolai Tangen and his wife, Katja, whose gift made the building possible.

The Wharton School’s David Musto will be heading the new Stevens Center for Innovation in Finance, which will offer research courses and mentorship to students pursuing careers in the fintech sector. “Penn’s unique mission has always been to take on the biggest real-world challenges and opportunities through knowledge-based and data-driven innovation,” said President Amy Gutmann.
