Ask Benny: What are summer hours for facilities?

Dear Benny,
I’m a workout fanatic, and I usually prefer to hit the gym after work. But with summer approaching, does Pottruck have shorter hours? Am I going to have to start working out in the morning? Also, are other Penn facilities adjusting their hours for the summer?
—Gym Rat

Dear Health Nut,
No need to worry about your workout routine. Although Pottruck does have shorter hours during the summer, you should still have plenty of time to get your workout in once your workday is done—unless you’re working some really long days. Starting May 23, the fitness center will only be open until 10 p.m. weekdays and 8 p.m. on weekends.

Other Penn facilities with adjusted summer hours include the following:

—Summer hours at the Sheerr Pool, the Climbing Wall, the Hutchinson Gym, the Penn Running Store and other recreation facilities can be found at the Penn Recreation website at www.upenn.edu/recreation/facilities/hours1.htm.

—For the revised hours at Van Pelt Library, check out www.library.upenn.edu/ and click on “Hours.” For the Fisher Fine Arts Library, go to www.library.upenn.edu/finearts/, and do the same. Both libraries will close earlier in the summer.

—The gardens at the beautiful Morris Arboretum are actually open somewhat later for the summer—the perfect time of year for a walk outside. For details, go to www.business-services.upenn.edu/arboretum/hours2.html
