Andrea Mitchell (CW'67), chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News, will be the speaker at this year's Baccalaureate ceremony on Sunday, May 17. President Judith Rodin selected Mitchell as Baccalaureate speaker after conferring with numerous University officials and the Trustees' Honorary Degrees and Awards Committee.

The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) recently received the 1998 National Quality Health Care Award, one of the industry's most prestigious honors in the recognition of high-quality health care. The award was created six years ago by the National Committee for Quality Health Care (NCQHC) and is co-sponsored by Modern Healthcare, a healthcare trade journal.

Committee examines binge drinking President Judith Rodin has named a special committee on binge drinking and alcohol-related violence. The committee of 14 Penn faculty, staff and students will explore the recent rise in binge drinking at Penn, which mirrors national campus trends, and recommend strategies to reverse the trend and prevent alcohol-related violence on campus.

Maureen Rush spent more than 10 good years on the Philadelphia Police Force before coming to Penn in 1994 to head up Victim Support and Special Services (now just Special Services). In her current role as director of police operations, Rush oversees the daily workings of the Division of Public Safety, recently centralized at the new headquarters at 4040 Chestnut St.
