2009 Winter Reading List
PHILADELPHIA – A group of students, alumni, faculty and staff of Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania, has compiled a list of books that are perfect for winter reading. In alphabetical order they are:• “Breakdowns” by Art Spiegelman (2008)• “George Orwell's Essays - Everyman's Library Edition” (2002)• “My Vocabulary Did This to Me” by Jack Spicer (2008)• “Naked Lunch” by William S. Winter at the ICA
WHAT: The colder months are a perfect time to see the latest exhibits inside the Institute of Contemporary Art, West Philadelphia’s showcase of contemporary painting, sculpture, video and other installations. WHERE: The ICA is located at 118 S. 36th St., between Chestnut and Sansom streets. COST: Admission is free. The free admission is suported by the Glenn R. Fuhrman (W87/WG88) Fund.

Psoriasis associated with increased risk of heart attacks, other diseases
Psoriasis patients can suffer from mild forms of the disease, with small patches of red, inflamed skin on elbows and knees. Or they can endure much more severe cases in which the body is totally covered in red, unsightly rashes. But as it turns out, psoriasis—and the severity to which people have it—is more than just an uncomfortable, sometimes painful, skin disease.

Penn Community Participates in National RecycleMania Competition on Campus
PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania is joining more than 400 colleges and universities participating in RecycleMania, a competition for faculty, staff and students designed to encourage both recycling and waste minimization. Until March 28, campuses will compete in different contests to see which institution can collect the largest amount of recyclables per person, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per person and have the highest recycling rate.
