“Obama and the World”: Penn Professors Discuss the Foreign Policy Challenges Facing the Obama Administration

Dr. Avery Goldstein, department chair, director of the Christopher H. Browne Center for International Politics and a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, specializes in international relations, security studies and Chinese politics.

Dr. Michael Horowitz is interested in international conflict and security issues, the intersection of religion and international relations, the role of leaders in international politics and international security issues in East Asia.

Dr. Ian Lustick is conducting research on the politics of Jewish and non-Jewish migration in and out of Palestine/the Land of Israel, the prospects for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, applications of agent-based modeling in the social sciences, techniques of disciplined counterfactual analysis and the problem of modeling political violence.

Dr. Rudra Sil specializes in comparative politics and post-communist studies and is currently working on a book comparing the evolution of organized labor politics in Russia, China and Eastern Europe.

Dr. Jessica Stanton specializes in international relations, with a focus on the use of violence in civil wars and the role of international law in international relations.
