WHAT: MAGPI, the Internet2 service at the University of Pennsylvania, has partnered with the University of Scranton to extend this high-speed Internet service to schools and colleges in northeastern Pennsylvania. To illustrate Internet2's capabilities for educational and health care organizations in that area, the University of Scranton is hosting an Internet2 Awareness Day, which will include a virtual panel with Penn participants and a demonstration with Penn's Annenberg Center for Public Policy Student Voices Pennsylvania project.

What exactly is formalism now? A new exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art attempts to address that very question in “Gone Formalism,” which runs from Jan. 21 through March 26. This show features work by six artists interested in the idea of form, including painter Mark Grotjahn, papier-mâché and found-object sculptor Jessica Jackson Hutchins and Charles Long, whose work (at right) takes its inspiration and materials from the Los Angeles River.
