The official name of the event is the Penn Relay Carnival, but most people know the nation’s oldest track and field competition as the Penn Relays. Scheduled for April 22 through 24 this year, the 2010 Penn Relays will mark the 116th year of the famed outdoor sports tradition.

Say Cheese Amateur and expert photographers and videographers are invited to enter images in the first annual photo and video contest at the Morris Arboretum. Submit pictures, both moving and still, by noon on June 30 of some of the people, plants and places at the gardens. A $15 entry fee allows you to submit up to three photos and a video no more than 90 seconds long.

As part of Penn’s commitment to providing children with positive and productive experiences early in their lives, the University will host Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, April 22, an annual event that encourages, inspires and introduces the sons and daughters of the Penn community to the workplace. Faculty and staff will have the opportunity to bring children ages 9 to 15 to Penn’s campus to enjoy an exciting array of events and activities.

PHILADELPHIA –- The Weiss Tech House, a student-run hub of technological innovation at the University of Pennsylvania, will announce the winners of its yearlong inventor’s fair, PennVention, on April 9, 2010 at the Wu and Chen Auditorium at Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Even before the January earthquake in Haiti, citizens in that country had been suffering for decades in abject poverty, with a subpar infrastructure and little access to quality health care. The 7.0 magnitude earthquake only amplified the country’s needs. A team of Penn Medicine faculty and staff, working in cooperation with the nonprofit Partners In Health, hoped to change that—if only temporarily.
