Pakistani Journalist, Author Ahmed Rashid to Speak at University of Pennsylvania Feb. 23

Rashid, an expert on current affairs in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central and South Asia, will speak on "Descent Into Chaos: The United States & the Failure of Nation Building in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia."
Foreign Policy recently named Rashid one of the world’s top 100 global thinkers. He is a regular contributor to the International Herald Tribune, the New York Book Review, the Washington Post and BBC online. He was the first journalist to address the United Nations General Assembly and is the recipient of multiple awards in Britain, the U.S. and Pakistan, including the Nisar Osmani Courage in Journalism Award. Rashid is the author of three internationally best-selling books, “Taliban,” “Jihad: The Rise of Militant Islam in Central Asia” and his latest, “Descent Into Chaos: U.S. Policy and the Failure of Nation Building in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia.”
The Anspach Lecture is an annual event designed to bring to Penn policy makers shaping international affairs.
