Vietnam Cafe
WHAT: This latest addition to the West Philly restaurant scene is an offshoot of the Lai family’s renowned Chinatown eatery, Vietnam. The Lais also own neighborhood mainstay Fu-Wah Mini Market, which sits right next door to the Cafe. WHERE: 814 S. 47th St., located between Baltimore and Warrington avenues.

University preps for UPennAlert test
By The Current Staff Penn’s Division of Public Safety, in conjunction with Information Systems & Computing, will conduct a campus-wide UPennAlert Emergency Notification test on Feb. 29. The purpose of this campus-wide test, DPS officials say, is to measure the effectiveness and timeliness of the new system’s infrastructure so that potential system challenges or capacity limitations can be identified. The test will also provide the community with an opportunity to experience the system in a non-crisis situation.

Many elderly rely on others to vote
As recent contests indicate, a handful of voters can decide an election. According to CNN, out of nearly 15 million votes cast on Super Tuesday, Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were separated by just 0.4 percent.

Penn in the Gulf: Post-Katrina Recovery Efforts Still Needed
WHAT: “Don’t Forget Katrina” is a panel discussion comprised of University of Pennsylvania volunteers from the School of Social Policy and Practice, the School of Nursing, the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Dental Medicine. Penn volunteers will share their assessments of health-related issues in Hancock County, Miss., including whether the water there is safe for human consumption. They will also discuss their personal experiences on the Mississippi coast.WHO:
