University Mourns the Loss of Kristina Krull

Dear Independent School Teaching Residency Community,

We are sad to write upon learning of the death of a member of our community, Kristina Krull, who died at home in New Hampshire. Kristina, 25, was a fellow in the Boarding School Teaching Residency (BSTR) program. Since August 2017, Kristina had been a teaching fellow at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. In a note to the St. Paul’s community, Acting Rector Michelle Chicoine described Kristina as someone who “inspired those whom she taught and coached and quickly earned the respect of the faculty and staff she worked alongside.”

Kristina received a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from Merrimack College. She earned her undergraduate degree in Applied Exercise Science from Springfield College, where she played field hockey and lacrosse. She had been active as an official for youth lacrosse.

We know that the Independent School Teaching Residency students are reading this at residences and campuses across the northeast. Please know that even from afar, Penn offers support and resources. You are part of the Penn community and we are here for you in this challenging time.

A candlelight vigil will be held tonight on the Chapel Terrance (rain location: Old Chapel) at St. Paul’s School at 7:00pm.  There will be a second vigil tomorrow, July 26, for those who cannot attend tonight in the Old Chapel at 11:00am. As we learn about additional services honoring Kristina, we will share those with the community.
