Featuring Ian Lustick, a professor of political science at Penn, and special guest Zvi Shtauber, former director of the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University, the moderated discussion will be followed by an audience question-and- answer session.

Lustick, an expert in American foreign policy and Middle East politics, is currently researching the politics of Jewish and non-Jewish migration in and out of Israel/Palestine, as well as prospects for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. He is a recipient of awards from the National Science Foundation, the Social Sciences Research Council and the United States Institute of Peace.

Shtauber, an expert on Israeli national security and Middle East affairs, had a 25-year career in the Israel Defense Forces, retiring with the rank of brigadier general. Upon his retirement, he served as vice president of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. In 1999 he became foreign policy advisor to Prime Minister Ehud Barak and from 2001 to 2004 served as Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom. Until 2008, he directed the Institute for National Security Studies of Tel Aviv University.
