Penn Study Connects Sleep Deficits Among Young Fruitflies to Disruption in Mating Later in Life
Mom always said you need your sleep, and it turns out, she was right. According to a new study published in Science this week from researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, lack of sleep in young fruit flies profoundly diminishes their ability to do one thing they do really, really well – make more flies.

120th running of Penn Relays open April 24
Each year, high school, college, and professional athletes from around the country and across the globe flock to Franklin Field to take part in the Penn Relay Carnival, the longest continuously held collegiate track meet in the United States. This year’s event, which runs from Thursday, April 24, to Saturday, April 26, will celebrate several milestones—including the 120th running of what’s now known as the Penn Relays.
