Penn Study Shows Geographic Disparities in Access to Liver Transplantation
PHILADELPHIA — Veterans with liver disease who live more than 100 miles from a Veterans Administration hospital that offers liver transplants are only half as likely to be placed on the liver transplant waitlist to receive a new organ compared to veterans who live closer to transplant centers, according to a new study from the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.

Public Policy Visiting Fellow, jointly sponsored by Annenberg and the PWPPI
The Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative and the Annenberg School for Communication are pleased to announce their collaboration on a new undertaking: a Public Policy Visiting Fellows program.Mark A. Patterson, former chief of staff to U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, will be the first Public Policy Visiting Fellow under this program; he will visit Penn on March 31 and April 1.

Penn IUR Announces Recipients of the 10th Annual Urban Leadership Awards
The University of Pennsylvania’s Institute for Urban Research (Penn IUR) is proud to announce the recipients of its 10th annual Urban Leadership Award, which honors urban visionaries for their transformative leadership for sustainable and inclusive cities. The 2014 awardees are Martin O’Malley, governor of Maryland and Sister Mary Scullion and Joan Dawson McConnon, co-founders of Project HOME.

M. Grace Calhoun Named Athletic Director at University of Pennsylvania
M. Grace Calhoun has been named director of recreation and intercollegiate athletics at the University of Pennsylvania, effective July 1. The announcement was made today by Provost Vincent Price, who chaired the search committee.Calhoun is currently director of athletics and assistant vice president at Loyola University Chicago, where she has expanded campus partnerships and engagement, opened new facilities, recruited new coaches and enhanced external revenue streams.

Penn Undergraduate Assembly Elections Provide Lessons in Leadership

This year the polls opened Monday, March 24, at midnight with all full-time, non-senior undergraduates able to vote online through Friday, March 28, at 5 p.m.

Women Of Color At Penn honors student, staff, and community leaders
Women Of Color At Penn (WOCAP) recently announced the honorees for this year's Women of Color Awards, given annually to individuals from Penn, Penn-affiliated hospitals, and the wider Delaware Valley who have positively impacted their communities and enhanced the quality of life for other women of color. The award recipients will be recognized at a luncheon held in their honor during the 27th Annual WOCAP Conference on Friday, March 21, at the University City Sheraton.
