Penn Professor Explores History of Adoption in New Book
The question caused consternation. Several decades ago when Peter Conn and his wife filled out paperwork to adopt a baby girl from Korea, one of the questions on a state government form was about the number and names of their “natural” children. “We thought about sending the Commonwealth a letter patiently explaining that, if our three biological children were natural, it meant that Jennifer was unnatural,” he recalls.

Rewarding Groups for Losing Weight More Effective than Rewarding Individuals, Penn Medicine Study Finds
A multi-institution study led by researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan and Carnegie Mellon University, has found that tying financial incentives to group weight loss led to significantly greater weight loss than cash awards based on an individual's success in losing weight on his or her own.

This spring, the Morris Arboretum will once again host its annual Japanese Cherry Blossom Celebration, in partnership with the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia. Free Museum night promotes love of literacy
According to KIDS COUNT, a national and state-by-state effort to track the wellbeing of American children, reading proficiently by the end of third grade is a crucial marker in a child’s educational development. Failure to read proficiently is linked to higher school dropout rates, which is why promoting literacy among young children is so crucial. On Wednesday, April 10, the Penn Museum will help spread the love of books with a free night of reading, storytelling, and hands-on activities to celebrate literacy.
