’XPN fest features surf rock to blues
For three days this summer, music lovers can see live performances from surf rockers, blues artists, indie-pop songsters and folk musicians—all in one place. The XPoNential Music Festival is back for its 15th year, and runs from July 24 through 26 at Wiggins Park, on the Camden Riverfront. The three-day event features two stages filled with locally and nationally known acts, a Kids Corner stage for the little ones and an area known as the Village Green that will feature information from the Festival’s eco-friendly sponsors.

Anti-violence training at PWC The Penn Women’s Center is offer anti-violence training over the summer. Anti-Violence Advocates (AVA) are a group of Penn faculty and staff who complete a comprehensive training program about domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in order to be informed resources for the Penn community. If a Penn student has any questions or concerns regarding these issues, they can contact an AVA to get support and information about resources at Penn and in the local community.

Penn VIPS honors high school seniors for community work
Penn Volunteers In Public Service (VIPS), part of the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, and the Penn Business Services Division recently awarded six high schools students from West Philadelphia with $1,000 non-tuition scholarships. The ceremony was held at the Sheraton University City Hotel; MSNBC political analyst Joe Watkins served as keynote speaker.

Penn Nursing Earns City Citation for Work on Childhood Obesity and Diabetes in West Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA — A group of students from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing who worked to prevent childhood obesity and diabetes in elementary school children from West Philadelphia has been commended by Mayor Michael Nutter.
