WHAT: Mayor Michael Nutter will deliver the welcome address at “One Child, Many Hands: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Child Welfare,” a June 3-5 national conference.
Bernadine Dohrn, the director of the Children and Family Justice Center and associate professor at Northwestern University School of Law, will deliver the keynote address, “Children and Human Rights: A Comprehensive View of the Welfare of the Child.”
This year’s theme is “A Time for Change,” and topics to be covered include preventing intergenerational transmission of trauma, early childhood sexual abuse, housing solutions, responding to the needs of children and families of incarcerated parents and permanency for adolescents in foster care.
The lead community sponsor for “One Child, Many Hands” is Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
