100th Anniversary of the Russian Revolution

November marks the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, when Vladimir Lenin led the Bolsheviks to overthrow the Provisional Government following the collapse of Tsarist rule.

Kristen R. Ghodsee

Kristen R. Ghodsee is the author of five scholarly books on communism and postcommunism, including, most recently, Red Hangover: Legacies of 20th Century Communism. Her articles and essays have appeared in Dissent, Foreign Affairs, Eurozine and The New York Times. In 2012, Ghodsee was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship for her work in anthropology and cultural studies. Her specific expertise is on socialism and women’s rights.

Benjamin Nathans

Benjamin Nathans teaches and writes about imperial Russia and the Soviet Union, modern European Jewish history and the history of human rights. He edited A Research Guide to Materials on the History of Russian Jewry (19th and Early 20th Centuries) in Selected Archives of the Former Soviet Union [in Russian] and is the author of Beyond the Pale: The Jewish Encounter With Late Imperial Russia, which won numerous prizes.
