Dear PennVet community,
We write with heavy hearts after learning of the loss of Brett Cooper, V18, who died today in his off-campus residence. Brett was 30 and from New Jersey.
Brett graduated the University of Delaware, where he majored in animal science. He was deeply committed to completing his clinical year and a member of Alpha Psi, the veterinary fraternity.
Any student death is difficult, but a loss in a small school community can be especially painful. We urge PennVet students, faculty, and staff to comfort each other.
A support session for the Penn Vet community will be held tomorrow, September 14, at Noon in the Old Vet Courtyard under the Arch.
We also want to remind students of PennVet’s partnership with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). A CAPS clinician will be at Rosenthal 122 today at 5 p.m. Additionally, PennVet students can see a CAPS clinician in Rosenthal Tuesdays (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.) and Thursdays (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.), or during day, evening, and weekend hours at CAPS, 3624 Market Street.
