With sadness I write to share the sudden death of your classmate, Nicholas A. Moya, a senior majoring in Math and Economics. He died last night off campus.
Nick, as he was known, was 21 and from Villanova. A former president of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, he was devoted to his brothers. He also served as a data analyst for the men’s basketball team, volunteered with the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, and was involved with Kite & Key. Nick cherished the city of Philadelphia and was proud to call Penn home. He is survived by his loving family and countless friends who cherished time spent with him.
I know that the news of Nick’s loss is heartbreaking, especially at the start of this academic year as we gather together on campus. Please, seek comfort from your friends and family at Penn and from your loved ones at home. Consider speaking to staff at CAPS or Student Health, a trusted advisor, or the Chaplain’s Office. Wherever you are on campus, off campus, or abroad, know that Penn is here to support you.
In addition, a support session for impacted students will be held today, at Noon, in the Ben Franklin Room in Houston Hall. CAPS counselors and other administrative support staff will be on hand to comfort you.
