Brown University’s Tighter Grip On Fraternities Spurs Debate

A week after Brown University imposed sanctions on two fraternities and issued a ban on alcohol at registered events on campus, administrators are reviewing current alcohol policies. The goal, said Margaret Klawunn, Brown’s vice president for campus life and student services, is to raise awareness of behaviors and activities that could put students at risk. “We need to address unsafe practices on campus, and we will be monitoring if there are any consequences of these measures,” Klawunn said in an e-mail to The Washington Post.
