Brown of the School of Arts and Sciences discussed the evolution of sexist respectability politics in the U.S. Brown traced the history of socially-appropriate behavior for women from the early suffrage movement to the present day, where men in power can no longer “count on a woman’s shame and stigma to cover their tracks.”
