PHILADELPHIA –- As the University of Pennsylvania awards eight new Green Fund grants for sustainable campus projects, it is beginning to see the impact of several others funded in the past.  This new round of awardees includes funding for: • Ozone washing machines at Pottruck Gymnasium. • A water density system at the Penn Ice Rink.

One of the coldest buildings on campus is now one of the hottest, sustainability-wise.

PHILADELPHIA –- Celebrating the beauty of its accomplishments, the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania has chronicled its past with the publication of a book of photographs by longtime Arboretum director Paul W. Meyer.

PHILADELPHIA – The Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania will hold a joint conference of the Anchor Institutions Task Force and the Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools on Thursday, Dec .15.   

Fridays in Jamaica aren’t always good. In 1963, only a year into independence, hundreds of Rastafarians at Coral Gardens, in the parish of St. James, were rounded up, jailed and tortured by the government of Jamaica. Officials accused the Rastas of setting fire to a gas station and killing two policemen.

PHILADELPHIA – The Pew Charitable Trusts have given $2 million to support Presidential Term Professorships at the University of Pennsylvania.  The announcement was made by Penn President Amy Gutmann and Provost Vincent Price.
