PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania has become the first university in Pennsylvania with access to the USC Shoah Foundation Institute’s entire Visual History Archive that contains nearly 52,000 video testimonies of survivors and other witnesses of the Holocaust in 32 languages and from 56 countries.

PHILADELPHIA -- Creating Canopy: Spreading Roots for a Greener Region, a program that Penn initiated in the spring of 2011 in partnership with the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department has helped the University earn its third consecutive Tree Campus USA designation from the Arbor Day Foundation.&

Penn Parking Services is rolling out a few new programs this spring for faculty and staff.

PHILADELPHIA -- Franklin Field: It’s not just for sports any more.    Education Commons, a new study space for students on the mezzanine of the George A. Weiss Pavilion at the historic stadium, is now open, and the Penn community is invited to check it out from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. 

Penn is partnering with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society to stage its second annual Creating Canopy free tree giveaway for members of the University community who are homeowners.

All members of the Penn community are invited to attend the David and Lyn Silfen University Forum on Monday, March 19, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

WASHINGTON – The Corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S. Department of Education awarded the University of Pennsylvania with the Presidential Award in the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its commitment to bettering the community through community service and service learning.
