    Louisa Shepard covers English, history of art, music, theater, classical studies, and cinema and media studies, among other subject areas, in the School of Arts and Sciences.     Four Penn undergrads are 2024 Goldwater Scholars

    Four Penn third-year students have received 2024 Goldwater Scholarships, awarded to undergraduates planning research careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering.

    A Penn student choir and Roberts’ baroque orchestra will perform a Vivaldi oratorio premiered by women and girls in Venice 300 years ago.

    Penn announces nine 2024 Thouron Scholars

    Six fourth-year students and three recent graduates will use the award to pursue graduate studies in the United Kingdom.

    The new play “Ladysitting” at the Arden Theatre Co. is by Penn English faculty and alumna Lorene Cary, based on her memoir about caring for her grandmother in the last of her 101 years.

    A new Arthur Ross Gallery exhibition of work by artist Barbara Earl Thomas features cut-paper portraits reminiscent of stained glass and an immersive installation constructed with intricately cut material lit from behind.

    Jade Gonzalez, a 2022 Penn graduate, has been selected as a 2024 Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellow and will receive funding for a two-year master’s degree and path to a career in the U.S. Foreign Service.

    The U.S. Department of State has named Penn a Fulbright U.S. Student Program “top producing institution” for the 2023-24 academic year, as one of the colleges and universities with the highest number of recipients selected.
