Historian of science and Penn faculty member Beans Velocci will host a conversation about their new book, “Sex Isn’t Real: The Invention of an Incoherent Binary.” Velocci will cover how the scientific and medical classification of sex was constructed and contested across five disciplines from the mid-19th through the mid-20th century, inviting participants to consider how we think about sex in biomedical research and clinical practice today. Free and open to the public. Register to attend.
