Isaac Julien
In celebration of the centennial, the Barnes has commissioned “Once Again . . . (Statues Never Die),” an immersive five-screen film installation by artist and filmmaker Isaac Julien. The work explores the close relationship of Dr. Albert C. Barnes, an early US collector and exhibitor of African material culture, and Alain Locke, cultural theorist and “Father of the Harlem Renaissance.”
