Teachers and scholars join for the Philadelphia Writing Project and Teachers Institute of Philadelphia Celebration of Writing and Literacy, an all-day event during which teachers from the area discuss the latest innovations in teaching practices, curriculums, and research. A keynote will be delivered by James Forman, about his book Locking Up Our Own: Crime and Punishment in Black America. That keynote will also include a Kensington CAPA teacher, who will explain a curriculum he wrote about racism and the criminal justice system
