PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology offers its annual Darwin Day and Evolution Teach-In on Feb. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. The free event is being held in honor of the 198th birthday of Charles Darwin, originator of the modern theory of evolution.

PHILADELPHIA- Roch Guerin, professor of electrical and systems engineering at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Engineering and Applied Science has been named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery for his contributions to the resource management of data networks.Guerin is among 41 ACM members recognized as 2006 Fellows for their work in the practical and theoretical aspects of computing and information technology. They represent some of the world's leading industries, universities, and research labs.

PHILADELPHIA The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology ushers in the Year of the Pig Saturday, Jan. 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with its 26th annual Chinese New Year Celebration. PHILADELPHIA -- Old Saint Nick might very well be able to run from rooftop to rooftop without reindeer this year, if only he carried toys in a backpack like the one developed by biologists at the University of Pennsylvania. In this weeks edition of the journal Nature, Penn researchers have announced details for a suspended-load ergonomic backpack that reduces the force of a backpacks load on the wearer by 86%, allowing wearers to run far more comfortably with heavy loads.
