Robert R. Marshak Public Lecture

To open the 2025 Institute for Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases Symposium, Peter Jay Hotez of Baylor College of Medicine will present the Robert R. Marshak Public Lecture, “Vaccines and Immunizations in a Time of Global Boiling and Anti-Science.” This event, co-hosted by the Annenberg Public Policy Center, will be moderated by Michael Mann, director of the Penn Center for Science, Sustainability, and the Media and vice provost for climate science, policy, and action.

Join artist José Ortiz-Pagán, a Sachs Arts grant recipient, for the opening reception of his exhibit “De Tierra a Estrellas / From Soil to Stars.” Presented by the Center for Latin American and Latinx Studies, this installation examines the journeys and experiences of migrant communities. Registration is required to attend.

Ravi Radhakrishnan named AIChE Fellow

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers named Radhakrishnan, professor and Herman P. Schwan Department Chair of Bioengineering and Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, an AIChE Fellow, which is awarded on individuals who have made significant contributions to the chemical engineering profession and exemplify the highest standards of leadership, research and service.

14th Annual Pow Wow

Hosted by Natives at Penn and the Greenfield Intercultural Center, all are invited to an educational pow wow experience. Attendees will learn about the history, songs, dances, and protocol of pow wows, as well as witness an abbreviated pow wow, followed by a Q&A with participants. The event begins at the Hall of Flags inside Houston Hall.
