George Pappas and Nikolai Matni receive 2024 IEEE Control Systems Society Best Paper Awards

Penn Engineering’s George Pappas and Nikolai Matni have been recognized with awards from the Control Systems Society (CSS) of the IEEE honoring their publications in IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control and IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems, respectively. Pappas was named the recipient of the 2024 IEEE CSS George S. Axelby Outstanding Paper Award and Matni was awarded the 2024 IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems Best Paper Award.

Paper on philanthropic strategies wins Editors’ Prize for three SP2-affiliated authors

An analysis of philanthropic decision making has earned the Nonprofit Management & Leadership journal’s 2024 Editors’ Prize for Best Scholarly Paper for three authors affiliated with Penn’s School of Social Policy & Practice. The first author of the paper is D H. Daniel Heist, a graduate of SP2’s PhD in Social Welfare Program, joined by SP2 professor Ram Cnaan and fellow SP2 Ph.D. graduate Megan M. Farwell.
