Herman Beavers, the Julie Beren Platt and Marc E. Platt President’s Distinguished Professor of English and Africana Studies, joins with Karen Brown and Cris Eli Blak for a discussion about the role of Black artists in shaping art and culture in the U.S., particularly in the 1960s. The discussion will be moderated by Penn Live Arts Executive & Artistic Director Chris Gruits.

The Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law sponsors a talk with David Philipps, author of “Alpha: Eddie Gallagher and the War for the Soul of the Navy SEALs.” The book talk will be moderated by Claire Finkelstein, a professor of philosophy at Penn Carey Law and a distinguished research fellow at the Annenberg Public Policy Center.

As part of the Folklife film series, the Penn Museum screens “Wall Stories,” which focuses on a shrine in India and its accompanying murals, and “The Calligrapher of Old Delhi,” about a calligrapher writing in Urdu, Persian, and Arabic in an environment where diversity and cultural heritage are threatened.
