4 women with lives scarred by genital cutting: Could a surgeon heal them?

Ivona Percec of the Perelman School of Medicine was featured in a story about women considering and pursuing clitoral reconstruction after experiencing genital cutting as children. Percec has developed her own surgical methods that reuse scar tissue when possible, among other techniques. “With any operation that we design, it’s going to be a work in progress, and it’s going to get better,” said Percec.
