PHILADELPHIA -– University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann and Kathleen Hall Jamieson, professor of communications and director of Penn’s Annenberg Public Policy Center, have been named to a new national commission to bolster teaching and research in the humanities and social sciences.

Some schools in the Philadelphia region can close hours before the first snowflake even touches the ground, but Penn very rarely shuts down due to inclement weather, leaving many parents or guardians scrambling to find a babysitter for their children.

The D. Hayes Agnew Memorial Pavilion on Spruce Street, near 34th Street, was considered a cutting-edge medical facility when it opened in 1897.

PHILADELPHIA – Three faculty members at the University of Pennsylvania have been named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. They are James C. Alwine, professor of cancer biology; Gideon Dreyfuss, Issac Norris Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator; and John C. Trueswell, professor of psychology.

Penn’s Mask and Wig Club is an all-male comedy troupe that has entertained Philadelphians and the Penn community since 1889 with its original revues, often featuring men dressed up as women.
