PHILADELPHIA - Chefs from several local restaurants will share their culinary favorites as the Guest Chef Series at University of Pennsylvania gets under way for the second straight year, as just one of several events and new services offered on campus by Penn Dining Services.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Urban Nutrition Initiative, a program of the Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania, has been recognized as the best year-round YouthWorks program by Work Ready Philadelphia.  UNI was recognized for its youth projects that work to improve community food systems in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania, in cooperation with the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council, is creating the Lucien E. Blackwell Apprenticeship Program to provide skills training opportunities to residents from West and Southwest Philadelphia.   

WHAT: The Lucien E. Blackwell Apprenticeship Program, a new building trades training program, will be launched with a ceremonial signing of a memo of understanding between officials of the University of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Business and Construction Trades Council and others.  

WHAT: A ceremonial ground breaking celebrating the construction of The Radian, a student apartment community in the 3900 block of Walnut Street in Philadelphia, adjacent to the University of Pennsylvania campus and developed by University Partners and Inland American Communities.

WHAT: A live multicast of the "Live Earth" concert series, a global event featuring a 24-hour series of eight concerts that will bring together more than 100 music artists and 2 billion people in support of a global movement to solve the climate crisis.

PHILADELPHIA - In conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania, University Partners, a developer of student housing, has begun construction on The Radian in the 3900 block of Walnut Street.

WHAT: Dedication of Philadelphia's latest public art project, "Wave Forms," designed by New York artist Dennis Oppenheim.

WHAT: The University of Pennsylvania Baccalaureate Ceremony will be a 50-minute interfaith program of music, readings, prayers and an address by K. Anthony Appiah, a professor of philosophy at Princeton University.Two consecutive ceremonies will be held in order to accommodate all those who wish to attend.  Tickets and academic regalia are not required.   

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania has partnered with Microsoft to enhance the communications platform it offers to many of its students.
