PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania has appointed Scott R. Douglass vice president for finance and treasurer.  He currently serves as senior associate dean for finance and administration of Penn's Wharton School.

WHO:Children who attend afternoon and weekend sessions at one of the 26 Police Athletic League Centers throughout Philadelphia will be special guests of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology tonight, which will open its doors to the children and their chaperones for this free evening, co-sponsored by the PAL Center of the Division of Public Safety at Penn.

PHILADELPHIA -- Clark Enterprises Inc. has given $2 million to the University of Pennsylvania to create and endow the Lawrence C. Nussdorf Chair at the University newly created Penn Institute for Urban Research.

WHO: Malcolm Gladwell, staff writer for The New Yorker, is the author of "The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference."  This book was chosen for the University of Pennsylvania's Reading Project this year.  The author will lead a small discussion group of Penn students.

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania Police Department, after undergoing a voluntary reassessment, has retained international accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc.
