    PHILADELPHIA -- From an applicant pool 18 percent higher than last year, the University of Pennsylvania has offered admission to 3,880, or 12.3 percent, of 31,659 students who applied for the Class of 2015.   Last year Penn received 26,940 applications and admitted 3,840.

    Penn Undergraduate Applications Increase 17 Percent

    PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania has reported a 17 percent increase in applications for admission to the class of 2015, according to Eric J. Furda, dean of admissions.  More than 31,600 applications were received, an increase from nearly 27,000 last year.

Levy have made a $5 million gift designated for faculty support.  The gift will be used to endow a Penn Integrates Knowledge Professorship, which will be named the Diane v.S. and Robert M. Levy University Professorship.The announcement was made by Penn President Amy Gutmann.
