Penn Offers Admission to 12 Percent of Applicants for Class of 2015
PHILADELPHIA -- From an applicant pool 18 percent higher than last year, the University of Pennsylvania has offered admission to 3,880, or 12.3 percent, of 31,659 students who applied for the Class of 2015.
Last year Penn received 26,940 applications and admitted 3,840.
The new admitted group, representing all 50 states, is 51 percent male, 49 percent female and 44 percent Asian, black/African-American, American Indian and Hispanic/Latino. Eleven percent are international students from 82 countries.
“This has been Penn’s most competitive selection process ever,” Eric J. Furda, dean of admissions, said. “These high-quality students have many options, and now we turn our attention to showing them that Penn is the place to be.”
Penn waitlisted 2,400 applicants, and those who were accepted have until May 1 to make their decisions.
