The Field Center for Children’s Policy, Practice & Research at the University of Pennsylvania will host its third annual Field of Dreams Luncheon, Friday, Nov. 1, at the College of Physicians, 19 S. 22nd St., Philadelphia.

Steven Scarfone is spending 10 weeks this summer investigating the mechanisms of pediatric traumatic injury as a participant in the University of Pennsylvania’s Injury Science Research Experiences for Undergraduates program.

The exposure of its citizens to dangerous toxins continues to be a concern in China, a newly industrialized nation with a large population and little environmental regulation, but for University of Pennsylvania senior Richard Liu one health risk has been particularly deserving of attention: lead exposure in young children. 

The University of Pennsylvania will be the site of a three-day conference, “One Child, Many Hands: A Multidisciplinary Conference on Child Welfare,” that will explore child welfare in the age of reform. 

A new online course taught by a University of Pennsylvania nursing professor and a nursing educator focuses on aging well, life in an aging society, and seeks to answer that age-old question: how old is old?  

 Marissa DeCesaris hopes to make an impact on improving care for the mentally ill. 

“Well-rounded” just doesn’t seem to cover it.  Nor does “always busy.” Andrew Dierkes, 19, is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, but, he’s no ordinary undergraduate.

Even though he has never lived in Harnwell House, Tony Krumbhaar has a connection to the legendary University of Pennsylvania president that no one else on campus can claim.  He is a great-grandson of Gaylord P. Harnwell, who led Penn in 1953-70.

The Penn Institute for Urban Research (Penn IUR) hosts the 9th Annual Urban Leadership Forum on Wednesday March 13th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm to celebrate exemplary leaders in the effort to build resilient, food-secure, and livable cities.

Feeding Cities: Food Security in a Rapidly Urbanizing World, the first international conference examining the critical link between urbanization and food security, will be held at the University of Pennsylvania from Wednesday, March 13, through Friday, March 15, 2013.
