Staff, faculty and students are invited to a grand opening celebration for Penn Park on Thursday, Sept. 15, featuring a picnic at 5 p.m., music and games throughout the evening and a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA — In an effort to better understand sea-level rise and flooding from hurricanes along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has awarded a three-year, $1.5 million grant to a research team led by the University of Pennsylvania’s Benjamin Horton

After the attacks of 9/11, the heroism of first responders — firefighters, police officers, EMTs, rescue workers and more — became a source of hope and inspiration in a trying time. But one group of responders has remained relatively unsung: 9/11’s working dogs.

 

PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania Division of Public Safety, in conjunction with the House deans and staff of the College House system, will host a Safety Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from noon to 2 p.m. at three locations on campus: the field at 40th and Locust streets, the Upper Quad and Hill Field.

After the usual summer lull, the Penn campus is bustling again, with refreshed faculty back from their summer break, returning students reconnecting and making new friends, and the addition of the University’s excited and wide-eyed freshmen.
