Seminars for retirement and work

To help you plan for the future, Human Resources is offering retirement education seminars. Run by TIAA-CREF and the Vanguard Group, the seminars will teach you the basics on retirement investing and bring you up to speed on the new tax law changes for retirement planning.

A Penn benefits specialist will also be on hand to explain next year’s salary deferral forms. Seminars are held in the Ben Franklin Room, 218 Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce St. Pre-registration not required. Refreshments served.

Investments: Beyond the Basics

The Vanguard Group will teach you how to build a well-diversified portfolio in this seminar. Topics include defining investment strategies, setting sub-asset allocation targets, selecting active and passive investments, and evaluating mutual funds.

Retirement Distribution Options

This Vanguard Group presentation, designed for those age 50 and over, will explain distribution options (which affects your access to your money once you retire), tax and beneficiary planning, and post-retirement investment options.

Developing an Investment Strategy

TIAA-CREF will point out the key issues to consider when developing an investment strategy. Demonstrate your understanding by answering the risk tolerance/asset allocation questionnaire given at the end.

Retirement Distribution Flexibilities

Participants over age 50 will receive guidance on selecting the most suitable retirement distributions using TIAA-CREF’s needs-based approach.
