Bike, don't drive

Love the outdoors and want to get some exercise? Then strap on your helmet and hop on your bike for Penn’s Bike-to-Work/Bike-to-Class days from Thursday, April 22 through April 24. All Penn employees and students are encouraged to bike to campus to allieviate some of the traffic jams associated with the annual Penn Relays.
There will be free guarded bike parking at University Square at 36th and Sansom streets, I-House at 37th and Chestnut streets and the Fresh Grocer parking deck at 4100 Walnut St. from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Refreshments and goodie bags will be offered to the first 300 participants.

Cyclists can also register for a chance to win a used bicycle or admission to a class on bike repair or urban riding. Penn Public Safety Officers will demonstrate on-bike policing skills at 12:30 p.m. at University Square. At 1 p.m., Pat Vance will talk about her book, “Intimate Bike Tours of Philadelphia” (Penn Press, 2004) at the Penn Bookstore, 3601 Walnut St. There will also be an Earth Day fair from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on College Green.
