This fall, we’ll see several new faces—and a few familiar ones—among the senior administration at Penn. Aside from Provost Ron J. Daniels, who began work in July, here are a few other new appointments:

Vanda McMurtry will assume the position of vice president for government and community affairs on Oct. 1. McMurtry, who held a similar position at Cornell, will direct Penn’s relationship with federal, state and local governments as well as non-governmental groups at the community and national levels.

John Horn began as Penn’s comptroller in June after serving as the associate comptroller since 2001. In his new role, he will serve as the University’s chief accounting officer, and will oversee accounting and financial reporting and supervise the accounting, tax, payroll, accounts payable and travel departments.

Psychology professor Robert DeRubeis was appointed associate dean for the Social Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences, effective July 1. The renowned scholar is now in charge of anthropology, criminology, economics, history and sociology of science, political science and sociology.

Anne Rollow Sullivan has been named senior associate dean for finance and administration at the Wharton School. She succeeds Scott Douglass, who stepped down from the post to take over as vice president of finance and treasurer for the University. Sullivan comes to Wharton from Columbia University, where she served as assistant vice president for administrative planing and financial management. Previously, she worked for the Fathom Knowledge Network and the investment banking divisions of Kidder Peabody.
