Groovin’ in the Garden

This time of year, the Morris Arboretum is alive with the sounds of birds chirping and insects buzzing. Every summer, musicians add to that cacophony with the Groovin’ in the Garden concert series, now in its fourth year.

For four Thursdays—June 18 and 25 and July 9 and 16—patrons can pack a picnic dinner and settle on a blanket or lawn chairs for an evening of outdoor music. Concerts begin at 7 p.m., but the thirsty may want to show up at 6 p.m. for the free beer tastings that precede each show, courtesy of Flourtown Beverage Company.

The concert series kicks off with the Keystone State Boychoir on June 18, and continues with the jazz fusion band Abstract Truth (pictured) on June 25, Karen Rodriguez Latin Jazz Ensemble on July 9 and Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble on July 16.

Concert admission is charged on a per-car basis, which encourages patrons to car pool. Chestnut Level members get in for free; other member cars must pay $10 and non-members cars will be charged $30.
