Gateway to global education

Four Penn centers have joined to create the Greater Philadelphia Global Education Network website, a gateway to global resources for regional K-16 educators. The site, www.philaglobaled.org, combines the resources of the South Asia Center, African Studies Center, Center for East Asian Studies and Middle East Center and features lectures, programs, exhibitions and news, as well as classroom and teaching resources from around the world, including lesson plans, blogs and video-conferencing.

Raili Roy, assistant director at the South Asia Center, hailed the new site as the first step toward creating a sustainable education network for the region. “We live in a globalized world and increasingly teachers are incorporating global content in their curricula,” she says.
