Dear Summer Lovin’:
There will be plenty of tunes across campus all summer, with performers from nearly every genre. First up is the free 40th Street Summer Series. This family-friendly concert series kicks off on May 25 at 6 p.m. with 10-piece brass band Brooklyn Qawwali Party.

There will be additional Summer Series performances on June 29, July 27, Aug. 31, and Sept. 28; all shows are held on the green space at 40th and Walnut streets, just behind the Walnut West Free Library. For more information, go to www.universitycity.org.

The Penn Museum is bringing back its summer concert series, which begins on June 19 at 5 p.m. with Animus. The summer concert series runs through September, and features a variety of performers, including Barakka on June 26, jazz/fusion band Cold Blue Electric on July 24, the West Philadelphia Orchestra on Aug. 21, and The Boyler Boys on Sept. 11.

Tickets are just $5 and include Museum admission donation. All performances start at 5 p.m. For more information, go to www.penn.museum.

The Morris Arboretum will again be holding several concerts in the garden. On June 20, enjoy the WRTI Jazz Concert: Summer Solstice Salsa Party with Café Con Pan Band. Pre-concert activities begin at 5:30 p.m. and the band performs at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per car for members and $25 per car for non-members if purchased in advance, or $25 per car for members and $30 per car for non-members if purchased the day of the show.

The Arboretum also brings back its WXPN Kids’ Corner Concert series, with Alex & the Kaleidoscope Band on Aug. 1, Trout Fishing in America on Aug. 8, and The Suzi Shelton Band on Aug. 15. For more information, go to www.morrisarboretum.org.
