Actor, Professor, Artist to Perform at Arthur Ross Gallery

In "Postlude," actor Robert Wisdom and Penn professor Tukufu Zuberi will perform works related to Adkins' exhibition "Darkwater" at the Arthur Ross Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania. Terry Adkins will accompany the readings with musical performances.
Robert Wisdom is an accomplished actor who has been featured in such films as "The Heist," "Face/Off," "That Thing You Do" and "Storytelling," as well as the television series "Cracker."
Tukufu Zuberi is a professor of sociology and the director of the Center for Africana Studies at Penn. He is the author of "Thicker than Water: How Racial Statistics Lie" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot."
Terry Adkins is an associate professor of fine arts at Penn. His artistic references are from the cultural tradition of the African-American South, including crafts, trades, music and folklore.
"Darkwater," a site-inspired exhibition by Adkins, is a tribute to W.E.B. DuBois, the scholar, poet and activist who was awarded a fellowship in 1895 to conduct a research project in Philadelphia's impoverished Seventh Ward. The result was "The Philadelphia Negro," one of his most celebrated works.
