The documentary, “The 3,100-mile Self-transcendence Race” by doctoral students Corrina Laughlin and Kevin Gotkin, and a series of radio documentaries produced by Annenberg undergraduate students in Sandra Ristovska’s class “Comm 320: Urban Ethnography: Documenting City Life” will be among the works exhibited at the 2014 Screening Scholarship Media Festival.  Ristovska, and doctoral students Kate Zambon and Emily LaDue have been involved in the planning for this year’s festival.  

Laughlin and Gotkin’s documentary followed the runners who participated in a 3,100-mile marathon in Jamaica, Queens.  The radio documentaries, each five minutes long, provide up close reviews of the Black Star Film Festival, the life-changing aspects of participation in West Philadelphia drill teams, and a powerful look at the so-called “School to Prison Pipeline” in Philadelphia.
