British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid will visit PennDesign to speak about her work in product design and architecture.
Best known for her dramatic, visionary forms and baroque spatial configurations, Hadid has produced groundbreaking architectural designs during the past two decades, such as the Vitra Fire Station in Weil am Rhein Germany; the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati; the Phaeno Science Center in Wolfsburg, Germany; and MAXXI: National Museum of XXI Century Art in Rome. Her work is the subject of numerous monographs and has been exhibited internationally, including a major retrospective in 2006 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York
In 2004 Hadid became the first woman to be awarded the Pritzker Prize, the architectural profession's highest honor.
