Arthur Ross Gallery Presents Work of Penn Faculty Photographers

PHILADELPHIA -- "Viewpoints: Nine Faculty Photographers," the first exhibition by photography-program faculty members of the Fine Arts Department at the University of Pennsylvania, is on display through Oct. 5 at Penn's Arthur Ross Gallery.

The artistic aims and techniques used by the featured photographers are diverse yet complementary.  The works reflect current developments in the art of photography.

Included in the exhibit are works by Bob Asman, Steven Begleiter, Colette Copeland, Martin Drexler, Wyatt Gallery, Gabe Martinez, Karen Rodewald, John Woodin and Becky Young.

The exhibit represents the growth of the comprehensive and popular photography program from its beginnings in 1975 with one instructor and one class.  The program has an integrated curriculum ranging from courses in black-and-white photography to color to installation and digital imaging.

Young was the sole instructor in the program for 23 years and now directs it.

The Arthur Ross Gallery, located at 220 S. 34th St., is open Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, noon-5 p.m.

Additional information about the "Viewpoints" exhibit is available by calling 215-898-2083.  The exhibit is free.
